Brisbane listeners abandon Alan Jones after Ardern outrage

Alan Jones has seen his Brisbane audience plummet in the fallout over his comments about New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Jones had told his audience on 4BC that Prime Minister Scott Morrison should "shove a sock down" Ms Ardern's throat over her stance on climate change.

The comments saw advertisers abandon the 78-year-old broadcaster in droves amid accusations of misogyny.

It was a similar story for weekdays from 5.30am to midnight, with 97.3FM gaining 1.7 percentage points to 12.2 to close the gap on timeslot-leader Nova106.9 to just 0.6 percentage points.

The Australian Radio Network's 4KQ slipped by 1.9 percentage points to 8.1 and 4BC lost 1.2 percentage points of its market share to drop to 6.8.

For Drive, Triple M dropped from third to fifth with 9.7 per cent market share and 97.3FM jumped by 1.8 percentage points to 11.7, but Nova106.9's lead remained greater than 3.5 percentage points.
